"You must be the change you wish to see in the world."-- Gandhi
- Environmental Defense: Finding the Ways that Work -- "Environmental Defense is a leading national nonprofit organization representing more than 300,000 members. Since 1967, we have linked science, economics and law to create innovative, equitable and cost-effective solutions to society's most urgent environmental problems."
- Sierra Club :: The Sierra Club's members are more than 750,000 of your friends and neighbors. Inspired by nature, we work together to protect our communities and the planet. The Club is America's oldest, largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization.
- BioGems: Saving Endangered Wild Places :: BioGems is a project of the NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council). Each year, the NRDC names twelve (12) BioGems — presently unspoiled wildlands in the Americas which are currently threatened by development. BioGems then mobilizes citizens to take direct action to protect these wild places, which are stores of biodiversity. Sadly, these places are vanishing quickly. They include wildlands that are reserves for forests, grizzly bears, jaguars, songbirds, and infinitely more; they are the islands of wilderness we will leave our children. Without urgent action, these wild places will be robbed of life by drilling, clearcutting, mining, and other development.
- World Wildlife Fund :: "WWF is active around the world, saving wildlife, protecting habitats, and addressing global threats. But conservation begins with each of us - and each of us can make a difference. Whether you choose to get involved by making environmentally-conscious consumer decisions and green choices in your daily life; taking action for sound environmental policy through WWF’s Conservation Action Network; traveling to unique habitats to see the extraordinary diversity of life on Earth; or making a financial contribution, by getting involved through WWF, you can ensure a living planet for future generations."
- The Nature Conservancy :: "Since 1951, we've been working with communities, businesses and people like you to protect more than 98 million acres around the world."
- RedJellyFish.com :: Red Jellyfish is a large community of people who are interested in the environment, natural health and fitness, adventure travel, and exploring a happier and more sustainable way of living. You can support different environmental non-profits automatically by using our Internet service, participating in our cell phone recycling program or buying our posters. We automatically donate a portion of the revenue from these services to protect vital rainforest, feed orphaned chimpanzees, promote solar power and other clean forms of energy, fight for healthier pesticide regulations, and help save endangered wildlife all over the world.
- Bluewater Network :: Bluewater Network works to stop environmental damage from vehicles and vessels, and to protect human health and the planet by reducing dependence on fossil fuels. Bluewater is a division of Friends of the Earth - the U.S. voice of the world’s largest network of environmental groups with one million supporters in 70 countries across five continents.
- American Rivers :: American Rivers works every day for healthy rivers, abundant fish and wildlife, and thriving river communities. More than 2,500 citizen groups have formed across the country with one mission: to protect and restore rivers and watersheds in American communities. The River Movement is backed by hundreds of thousands of members, volunteers, online activists, scientists, academic experts, and state and federal agency staff. Our numbers are growing, and the movement is gaining strength. Please join American Rivers. It costs nothing to get on the list for social action.
